Ts'uubaa-asatx First Nations Education, Skills & Employment

At Ts'uubaa-asatx First Nation, we are committed to supporting our members in pursuing education, skills training, and employment opportunities. Our education policy provides funding and support for eligible students to access post-secondary education, trades, and skill development programs.

Eligibility

Our funding covers various programs, including:

  • Certificate, Diploma, and Degree Programs: Examples include Culinary Arts, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Nursing (B.Sc.N.), Master’s (M.A.), and Ph.D. programs.

  • Accreditation Requirement: Programs must be offered at an accredited institution and have secondary-level courses as prerequisites.

  • Postgraduate Studies: Funding is available for students pursuing postgraduate degrees if they meet eligibility criteria.

  • Trades & Technical Training: Considered on a case-by-case basis with full adherence to policy requirements.

  • College Preparation: Funding is available for up to 8 months (non-science) or 16 months (science-related fields). Students must take an English and/or Math assessment where applicable.

  • Exclusions: Law students in the articling year are not eligible for post-secondary funding. Students in paid practicums may receive a living allowance top-up if necessary.

Seasonal Travel Assistance

Funding is available for travel from the student’s home to the closest institution offering comparable studies within British Columbia. Additional tuition or travel costs for out-of-province studies will be considered only if comparable programs are unavailable in B.C.

For students studying internationally, funding is provided in Canadian dollars, and it is the student’s responsibility to secure additional financial support.

Length of Funding

Funding duration is based on the type of program:

  • College Preparation: Up to 8 months (non-science) or 16 months (science-related fields)

  • Diploma Programs: Up to 24 months

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A., B.Sc.): Up to 40 months

  • Education & Nursing Degrees (B.Ed, B.Sc.N.): Up to 48 months

  • Postgraduate & Professional Programs:

    • Post Degree Program: 8 months

    • Law Degree: 32 months

    • Master’s Degree: 24 months

    • Ph.D.: 32 months
